Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are the foundation for many careers and areas of study at UCC.

While Angela Garcia worked in the front office as a department assistant with Douglas County Adult Parole and Probation, she was intrigued by the Parole Officers (PO) and their responsibilities. “I enjoyed working with people and thought, "maybe becoming a Parole Officer is the route I want to go, but I was also considering police work,” Angela said.
Umpqua Community College helped me become more involved and gave me the resources I needed to succeed.
The reserve academy was a huge turning point in my life and one of my biggest accomplishments. I wouldn’t be in this career field without it.
Media literacy and learning how to read critically are some of the most important skills a person can learn.
Going to college gave me sense of purpose and direction. Through this journey, I have been evolving.

If it hadn’t been for UCC and what I gained there to be a teacher, I could have become a homeless woman. My education saved us.
This has been my home field for four years. The field was getting rough. It’s incredible now and it’s a real blessing for us to be able to play here.
